Away to Winterslow Growmore 5th October 2024
First game of the season, we took out some players who had not played there before. They played well at a new venue. The results did not reflect the standard of play. they did give them a good game. We will be ready for Winterslow Growmore when they come to us.
Home to Winterslow 12th October 2024
Our first home game, want to make a good impression. Only beat them by one point at home last season. So off we started. Scores were close in the singles but a few points ahead. Come the Triples we managed to win all four games and the competition.
Away to Bramshaw 20th October 2024
Never played Bramshaw last season but knew the were a really strong team plus they have drafted in a couple of good players. We did our best but came second. been told the score did not reflect the standard of play
Home to Whiteparish Robins 10th November 2024
Different players from last years team. This made it all the more interesting. The away pairing of Kathy and Terry winning all their games made it hard work for us but we kept it together winning the other singles games plus winning 3 of the triples games, even after a cup of tea!
Away to Wellow 17 November 2024
We travelled to Wellow with the faith and courage of giving them a good game. We tried our best to keep up with them but playing on their mats we did struggle, taking nothing away from them they are a good team. Well done to Emma & Alan getting a draw in the single & a win in the triples
Home to Hythe Dolphins
Competition Arranged for Sunday 12th January.
13.30 for 14.00 start
List is up on the notice board. We need a good win over our neighbours.

Test Valley One Day Competitions 2024-2025
This is the second season we have played in these competitions. This is how we got on.
Singles Competition Saturday 4th November 2024
Emma and Alan Baker were kind enough to step in and represent Waterside SMBC this year. Playing in singles competitions is not every ones cup of tea but they did well.
Emma won 3 of of her 5 games, only losing to two of the top players.
Alan won 2 and drew 1 of his 5 games.
With these results it didn't get them through to the Quarter Finals. Looking forward to the next One Day Competition!
Triples Competition Saturday 4th January 2025
See details on clubs notice board. We can enter two teams. Last year, we did have a good team getting through to the knockout stages, perhaps they can go a bit further!
Jock Dixon Cup 2024-2025
Our First round this season is away to Whiteparish Robins. game is organised for Sunday 30th November.
List for players is up on the Notice board.
Come back and see the result

This was a "cant loose game". A bit tense but we had the players to hold them at bay. It was great to do the double over the Dolphins.

With the last significant game played Winterslow beat Hythe Dolphins 55-53. Winterslow won the league with 27 points. Waterside with 24 points and better shot difference we finished in 3rd place in the league. This being our first time in the Test Valley League we have done rather well for ourselves. Well done Waterside.
Test Valley One Day Competitions 2023-2024
This is the first season we have played in theses competitions, see is how we got on
Singles Competition 4th November 2024
Mick Potter was the only entry from Waterside this year, this was the 1st time playing at Landford Village Hall. They had the use of 6 very different mats to play the matches.
Here is a small extract from the competitions report:
There was a large entry for our first competition at our new venue at Landford with 30 bowlers entered for the Singles Competition. It was also a first for Waterside with Mick Potter who narrowly missing out on qualifying for the knock-out section. He was beaten into third place in League 2 by Terry Winkworth who had the same points and wood difference but a slightly better woods for score (34 to 32).
Well, he gave it a go. The result as follows.
1st Jake Palmer (Wellow)
2nd Nigel Fox (Winterslow Growmore)
3rd Brian Marchent (Whiteparish Robins)
4th Diane Smith (Wellow)
Triples Competition 6th January 2024
We put in two teams and lent out two players to make up another team:
Waterside Leftovers missed the cut in league 2
Waterside Legends (Lesley Bromige, Sandra Bradley and Bob Wellington) came 2nd in league 1 with 4 wins. This put them into the semi-finals knock out. They lost their semi-finals and then played in the 3rd place play off but lost again giving it a good go.
The results as follows:
1st Hythe Dolphins 1 (Iain Price, Keith Cromer and David Frankcom)
2nd Wellow (Kevin Stokes, Diane Smith and Jake Palmer)
3rd Bramshaw 1 (Terry Bellas, Wendy Hardy and Charlie Draper)
4th Waterside Legends (Lesley Bromige, Sandra Bradley and Bob Wellington)
Pairs Competition 3rd February 2024
This was not our greatest day out, we put in three teams, tried our hardest and this is a little bit from the report:
Waterside had a day that they probably want to forget with Jean Blake and Dave Renyard being their highest placed pair with 3 points.
So well done to Dave and Jean, keeping the club on the map on the map!
The results as follows:
1st David Frankcom and Paul Holyoake (Hythe Dolphins)
2nd Diane Smith and Kevin Stokes (Wellow)
3rd Shirley Palmer and Jake Palmer (Wellow)
4th Janice Hesford and Roy Best (Winterslow / Winterslow Growmore)
Pot Luck Pairs Sunday 7th April 2024
Sue and Mick Potter put their heads over the parapet and entered this new to them competition.
This is blind draw and get to play with another player, like it or not! Sue and her partner gave it a go but they were drawn against stronger opposition and lost their games.
Mick's partner was Keith Cromer from Hythe Dolphins, between the both of them they won all three of their games, thankfully Keith was the stronger player and pulled of some good shots.
This got them to be placed 3rd in the competition with a +11 shot difference.
No silverware but mentioned in dispatches.
Jock Dixon Cup
The format of this competition is similar to the league but you have games of Singles, Pairs and Triples. Shots scored count as well as points for a win. Then a clever person to work it all out!!
We got through the first round beating Whiteparish Robins 15-6,
Now we are into the semi-finals against Winterslow.
Winterslow came to Waterside Thursday 22nd February. Bothe teams put up a good battle, at the end of the singles and pairs Waterside were winning 10-6. But it went a bit wrong. Waterside lost all four of the Triples. Final score Waterside 10 Winterslow 14
